What is a Bankruptcy Trustee?
When you file for bankruptcy, it can be a challenging time. By law a bankruptcy trustee must be appointed to administer your bankrupt estate.
If you choose to file for bankruptcy, you can either choose your own trustee or apply through the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA). AFSA is a government agency. If you apply through AFSA, it will usually appoint the official trustee, but in some cases AFSA may appoint a Registered Trustee at the time of your application. If you are looking to appoint your own Trustee, Australian Bankruptcy Services has an in-house Trustee ready to assist. Our Registered Trustee is Anthony Warner. He is experienced and reliable and you can appoint Anthony with the confidence that he will handle your bankruptcy in a fair and professional manner from as little as $80 a week (on a voluntary basis).
A Bankruptcy trustee can also assist you with applying for bankruptcy through AFSA if you can’t afford $80 per week. This can reduce the stress in completing complicated forms.
